I Want to be Just Like Uhuru When I Grow Up – Moses Kuria

President Uhuru Kenyatta’s political career has inspired Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria, who says he would like to serve people in numerous positions just like the head of state.

Kuria remarked in an interview with NTV that he would like to enjoy the same level of support that President Uhuru has for the last nine years. He claimed that the Head of State’s ability to win consecutive elections is due to the overwhelming support he has received.

Despite the president’s overwhelming support in the last three elections, Kuria believes it is time for him to step down from politics on August 9, when his tenure ends.

“President Kenyatta is very lucky; when I grow up I would want to be like President Uhuru who has been elected three times,” Kuria said.

“He is finishing his term and I am sure he will go home and Kenyans will vote for their next leaders. The president might have his preferred candidate in the coming elections which is his right but all we are asking for is a free, fair and peaceful election.”

The second-term MP also commented on the president’s tumultuous relationship with his deputy, William Ruto.

According to Kuria, members of the Jubilee party have been saddened and traumatized by the clashes between the two senior leaders, which he hopes would be washed away by the next elections.

“As an outgoing member of the Jubilee party, it is sad to see the ongoing sibling rivalry between the two leaders. Their fights have caused a lot of worry among party members but what is giving me hope is that we are left with a few days before we go to the elections,” he said.

Kuria last week intimated that he and other 21 parties were in talks with the Kenya Kwanza alliance that is led by DP Ruto, ANC’s Musalia Mudavadi and Ford-Kenya’s Moses Wetangula.

Kuria stated on his Facebook page that his party and the others were in early talks with the Alliance to form a broad-based grand coalition.

“This is to inform Kenyans that Chama Cha Kazi Party and 21 other political parties are in early talks with the Kenya Kwanza Alliance that will lead to a very broad based grand coalition that will deliver the nation to peace and prosperity. [More] details to follow,” wrote the Gatundu South legislator.

This comes only days after Kuria stated that he will not support the Azimio La Umoja campaign as the country prepares to vote on August 9.

Kuria stated he will always be on the winning side while speaking in Kiambu County earlier this week during the burial of former Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu’s mother.

“… Kuna kitu ninajua, pengine sijui pahali niliko lakini najua pahali siko (I might not know where I am, but I know where I can’t be),” Kuria said.

“Unajua kwa hii uhai mimi ndio ninajiamulia, hakuna siku utanipata kwa Azimio…lakini hata nikikufa, msinipeleke kwa Azimio (In this life, I’m the one to make the decision about my direction, you’ll never see me in Azimio…and even if I die, don’t take me to Azimio).”
