Raila Most Preferred Presidential Candidate – Tifa Poll

According to a Tifa survey released on Monday, Raila Odinga of Azimio la Umoja-One Kenya Alliance coalition party is the presidential contender with the greatest support.

According to the survey conducted between June 25 and June 30, 2022, Raila would win with 42 percent of the vote if elections were held today.

Deputy President William Ruto of the United Democratic Alliance ( UDA) would finish in second place with 39% of the vote.

Professor George Wajackoyah of the Roots Party would receive 4% of the vote, making him the third most popular candidate in the presidential contest.

The survey also revealed that 10% of Kenyans are still unsure about who they will vote for president. 5% chose not to respond.

Additionally, according to Tifa’s survey findings, 80% of Raila’s supporters approve of Martha Karua as his pick for running mate.

On the other hand, 62% of Ruto’s supporters are satisfied with Rigathi Gachagua being his running mate.

In addition, the survey revealed that Raila was the candidate with the most support in the coast, lower eastern, Nairobi, Nyanza, South Rift, and Western regions.

However, in the Central Rift, Mount Kenya, and Northern regions, Dr Ruto is the most popular candidate.

ODM’s popularity grew by 1% from 25% to 26% between May and June while UDA’s increased from 29% to 33% over the same period.

Overall, Central has the highest approval rating for UDA (56%), while Nyanza has the highest rating for ODM (57%).

However, the survey also revealed that in the past two months, the Azimio la Umoja alliance has maintained an advantage over Kenya Kwanza.

According to the study, the percentage of those who stated they were still unsure or do not support a particular party decreased from 37% to 28%.

“This leaves more than one-quarter who neither “feel close to”nor “support” any party or are undecided about this – perhaps surprising giving how close the country is to the next general election,” Tifa lead researcher Tom Wolf said. 

The number of individuals who are unsure and do not support a coalition also decreased slightly from 10% to 9%.

According to the poll, Azimio’s popularity remained at 42% through May and June, while Kenya Kwanza’s popularity increased from 28% to 35%.

It showed that George Wajackoya’s Roots party is currently at 3%, while the popularity of the Jubilee party increased by one percentage point from 3 to 4%.

The popularity of the wiper party fell to 2% in June from 3% the previous month.
