Shame on the Judiciary – Raila Shouts After Zanzibar Vacation

Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Alliance presidential candidate Raila Odinga says Kenyans should not vote if foreigners will decide the winner.

Raila who lost to William Ruto in the August 9 polls, jetted back into the country on Thursday morning. He was in Zanzibar for a vacation with his family.

Speaking in Mombasa after Mombasa Governor Abdulswamad Nassir’s inauguration, the former prime minister said his team was waiting for the detailed Supreme Court judgement that dismissed the presidential petition.

“We want to wait and see what these details are going to be about,” Raila said.

He added: “Why should women, the elderly (and) the disabled queue for so many hours to cast their votes when at the end of the day it is a mercenary from Venezuela called Mr Jose Camargo who eventually decide who becomes the president of this country?”

The ODM leader criticized the court’s dismissal of proof that the foreigner (Camargo) had tampered with results on the public portal.

The seven-judge bench led by Chief Justice Martha Koome dismissed the allegations presented by the petitioners as “hot air” meant to take the judges on a wild goose chase.

“How is it possible that a device transmits results from Mt Elgon and eight minutes later it transmits results from Nyeri? Is that not dramatic?” a rather agitated Raila posed.

“Shame on you Supreme Court!”

Raila declared that the supreme court’s biased verdict would not force him or Kenyans into silence.

“We will talk. The Constitution of this country gives power to the people of Kenya, and all the other people exercising power are exercising donated power,” added the former premier.

“So the Judiciary is no exception, if they become rogue, we have power as the people of this country to reform them and send them home. We can lead a million march to the Judiciary to say kwendeni nyumbani and they will have no choice but to go home.”

He reiterated that he does not agree with the ruling but will abide by it.
