Azimio Leaders Claim Maina Njenga Ferried to Unknown Location

Former Mungiki leader Maina Njenga has been transferred to an unknown location, besieged Jubilee party secretary general Jeremiah Kioni has said.

Speaking on Thursday, the former Ndaragwa MP said the former Laikipia senatorial candidate was snatched from his lawyers at the DCI headquarters along Kiambu Road.

Kioni stated that the accusations against the former sect leader are politically instigated.

“Njenga was lied to. We were consulting when the DCI called him for questioning but they blocked the lawyers and snatched him,” Kioni said.

Kioni also alleged that the suspect was forced by the police to take a plea within 5 hours of questioning.

“They are just harassing him just like they are going to harass Kenyans. They are going to Kiambu courts, but they took him in a clandestine manner,” he said.

Njenga was supposed to be taken to Kiambu Law Courts but according to his lawyer, Ndegwa Njiiru, he was nowhere to be found.

“I went to  Kiambu law courts and my client was not there,” he said.

Njenga was accompanied by Azimio leaders including Martha Karua, Eugene Wamalwa, Mwangi wa Iria and George Wajackoyah.

He presented himself at the Nakuru law courts on Wednesday following reports police were looking for him.
