It is darkest before dawn, Defense CS Aden Duale has said as he recalls ouster as the National Assembly majority leader.
Duale was kicked out of office by retired President Uhuru Kenyatta and was quickly replaced by then Kipipiri MP Amos Kimunya.
In a tweet, the former Garissa Township MP said his mistake then was choosing to work with then DP William Ruto.
Ruto had fallen out with his boss and was forging his own path.

“Verily verily, I say, it’s darkest before dawn!” said the former lawmaker.
The CS, however, noted that he does not regret his choices nor does he harbor grudges against his “tormentors”.
“In retrospect, I don’t hold anything against our tormentors nor do I keep regrets about the side I chose to associate with,” he added.
“And, looking back, I can’t help but sigh with relief.”

Duale stated that the meeting that led to his ouster lasted about 30 minutes at the KICC and was fueled by betrayal, malice and a senseless witch-hunt.
“For the record, three years ago, today, there was nothing to jubilate!” he said.
