I’m Not Paid To Attend Cabinet Meetings – Malala

UDA Secretary General Cleophas Malala has stated that he is not compensated for attending Cabinet meetings.

Malala stated that while being present at meetings is a requirement of his position as secretary general, he does not anticipate receiving payment.

The United Democratic Party, not the government, he claimed, pays him his wage.

“When I sit there, it is just one of my duties as the SG,” Malala said.

“I am not paid by the government; I am paid by my party, UDA. My party pays me through the political party fund. It is in my line of duty to ensure that the manifesto is implemented.”

He added that he took the oath of confidentiality in order to attend the meetings as President William Ruto’s advisor and not as a Cabinet Secretary.

Malala claimed that the Constitution establishes the number of CSs and that the President has not broken the law by appointing his advisors to the Cabinet.

The Cabinet gave its blessing on June 27 for Malala to attend Tuesday Cabinet meetings.
