A suspect linked with the murder most gruesome of DCI officer David Mayaka has been killed in a shootout in Kayole, Nairobi, on Tuesday morning.
According to authorities, John Kamau, aka Faruk, was shot and murdered by police while he was battling a squad of detectives who had cornered him at his hideout in the Soweto.
Faruk was shot after he fired at one of the officers who was trying to arrest him.
The suspect was in possession of a weapon that was allegedly used to fatally shoot Mayaka in Mihang’o on August 8.

Police said the Ceska pistol found on Faruk had 12 rounds of ammunition.
On Tuesday at around 4 am, a team of investigators from the Crime Research and Intelligence Bureau, situated at the DCI Nairobi regional command, mounted a hunt on Faruk.
Instead, according to Nairobi regional commander Adamson Bungei, the suspect who had been ordered to stand down opened fire and wounded one cop.
“This forced the other officers to fatally injure the suspect. We wanted him to face justice,” said the police boss.

Police had been trailing Faruk for the last couple of weeks after he nd two others killed Mayaka and injured his wife.
His accomplice Alex Wanjiru was arrested in his grandmother’s house in Kikuyu, Kiambu.
