Majority of Kenyans Believe Kioni is Legitimate Jubilee SG

At least 32 per cent of Kenyans believe Jeremiah Kioni is the bonafide secretary general of the Jubilee party, a Tifa poll shows.

In the poll released on Thursday, only 21 percent of Kenyans believe East African Legislative Assembly (EALA) MP Kanini Kega is the legal party SG.

However, 47 percent of the respondents remain undecided on who between the two is the legitimate SG of the former ruling party.

The survey was conducted between September 8 – September 10, 2023. It involved 1,007 respondents.

Data was collected through Telephonic Interviews conducted (with respondents whose contacts were collected through previous face-to-face (i.e., household-based interviews).

Nationally Representative Sample was spread across nine zones; Central Rift, Coast, Lower Eastern, Mt Kenya, Nairobi, Northern, Nyanza, South Rift, and Western, with a margin error of +/- 3.1%.

The party is currently at a stalemate over its leadership.

A faction loyal to retired President Uhuru Kenyatta has maintained that Kioni remains the SG while another led by former Murang’a Woman Rep Sabina Chege says Kega is the party SG.
