The National Police Service has denied arresting sacked Commissioner-General of Kenya Prisons Services, Wycliffe Ogalo.
In a statement, the police clarified that they only facilitated a smooth and seamless handover of office by escorting the General home.
“The reporting appearing in mainstream and social media that the former Kenya Prisons Service’s Commissioner General Mr. Wycliffe Ogallo has been arrested by police is not accurate as stated,” said the police.
“This is to clarify that police only facilitated a smooth and seamless handover of office and escorted the former Commissioner General to his home.”
Earlier reports indicated that the ex-Commissioner General had been arrested by DCI sleuths in collaboration with Anti Terrorism Police Unit (ATPU) before being taken to DCI headquarters for grilling.
The ex-Prisons boss was replaced by Brigadier(Rtd) John Kibaso Warioba shortly after President Uhuru Kenyatta convened a crisis meeting with security agencies.
The change of guard comes in the backdrop of the escape of three terror convicts from the Kamiti maximum prison.
