Embakasi East MP Babu Owino says he is ready to take over from nominated MP John Mbadi as ODM chairman.
“We wish you well Hon. John Mbadi as you step down from ODM Party Chairmanship. It is now my time to take over from where you have left off and steer the Party to greater heights and prosperity. Youth power,” he said.
His remarks came after the former Suba South MP said that he was ready to step down and allow others to lead.
Addressing reporters on Tuesday, Mbadi said a plot to force him out was already in the works.

Mbadi alleged that those looking to oust him were behind his ouster as minority leader.
He was responding to claims that he has been giving Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Alliance coalition party rallies a wide berth.
“Those who think being chairman is so important to them let them offer themselves to lead. I am very ready to leave the position to them, right now I am the chair but I am not dying to be the chair,” said Mbadi.
“I have done my bit they took away my position as the minority leader, I am still alive.”

He, however, asserted that his party leader, Raila Odinga, was aware of his intention to leave after nine years at the helm of the Orange party.
He also noted that he would have left a long time ago if the party had a vice chairperson.
“I am not a person to run away from the office before we get good succession, I want to be succeeded, and still I will serve the party in whatever capacity, you know some people think being a chair is something I am dying for, far from the truth, I have done my bit.”
