Back Elderly Raila to serve One Term – CS Wamalwa Urges

Defense Cabinet Secretary Eugene Wamalwa and his DAP Kenya counterparts have urged the Luhya nation to back a Raila Odinga presidency.

Speaking on Sunday, Wamalwa said that Raila will only be in power for one term as he is old.

This he said will allow a Luhya ascend to power sooner rather than later should Deputy President William Ruto bag the presidency.

“As the luhya community we should choose which route is easy in the succession politics, Odinga is old and will only serve one term, if we are loyal it is easy for us to be in the main succession politics,” said the CS.

He told the electorate that the DAP-K was born following internal wrangles within the Moses Wetangula-led party, Ford-Kenya.

“When I saw my brothers Eseli and Wamunyinyi quarrelling with Wetang’ula, I saw the need to separate brothers that’s why I invited them to join hands and form DAP-K ,” he said.

He also took the time to criticize the Bungoma senator for sending mixed signals on who he was really supporting.

He accused Wetangula of being two faced.

“They should be like us who have shown a firm stand, you can’t be with the president during the day and his deputy during the night,” Wamalwa said.

Kanduyi MP Wafula Wamunyinyi told the poorly attended meeting that they broke ranks with Wetangula because he was forcing them to back DP Ruto.

“We wanted to make Ford-Kenya our party but unfortunately we were being forced to where we didn’t want to go,” Wamunyinyi said.

He urged the people to support Raila in a bid to pave way for a Wamalwa presidency once the former retires.

The meeting was also attended by former Bungoma Women rep Reginalda Wanyonyi, Bumula politician Jack Wamboka, Trans Nzoia speaker Joshua Werunga, and Tongaren MP Eseli Simiyu.
