Case Against Pauline Njoroge Closed, Gadgets Released

A cybercrimes case against political strategist Pauline Njoroge has been closed.

In a post on X, Pauline said a Malindi Magistrates court on Monday closed the case after the prosecution asked for more time to gather evidence against her.

The prosecution, the digital communications strategist said, also failed to charge her hence the court decision.

“The Malindi Court has today closed my case, after prosecution once again failed to charge and asked for more time to gather evidence,” she wrote.

As for her laptop and iPhone, the court directed the State to release them into her custody.

“My gadgets have also been released,” she added.

In July, Pauline was arrested alongside her friend Jane Mwangi and their driver Emanze Jilani in Watamu over alleged drug possession.

The State then dropped the drug possession charges and instead accused her of making a false publication contrary to Section 22 (1) (b) (d) of the Computer Misuse and Cybercrimes Act no. 5 of 2018, on X, formerly known as Twitter.

Police in an affidavit said Pauline had been posting and tweeting inflammatory and inciteful messages against state agencies on her social media accounts, leading to polarization of her followers locally, regionally and internationally.

She was also accused of false publication contrary to Section 22 of the Computer Misuse and Cybercrimes Act of 2018 for a post she made on Twitter regarding a police operation in Nyalenda, Kisumu County and to discredit the head of state.
