Do Not Read into the Cabinet Reshuffle – DP Gachagua

Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has broken his silence on the recent Cabinet reshuffle by President William Ruto.

Taking to X, formerly Twitter, the second-in-command said it is the prerogative of the President to organise and reorganise his team.

“He reorganised his team for effective delivery of the services,” Gachagua said.

The DP urged the affected CSs to work with diligence and commitment.

“Ensure your work is visible to the public,” he said.

The former Mathira MP said there was no need to read too much into the reshuffle as no one was fired.

One of the affected CSs, Moses Kuria, had hours after the reshuffle posted a picture of the DP on his X account, but did not caption the image.

Kuria was moved from the Trade ministry to the Public Service ministry.

Speaking on Thursday in Garissa, the CS put on notice lazy civil servants as he noted that he had many enemies but would carry out his mandate with diligence no matter the ministry.

“I want to assure Kenyans the same energy and vigour that used to execute my mandate in the Ministry of Trade is the same one I will use to carry out my new mandate on performance and delivery,” he said.

“Civil servants you know me. You know that I don’t joke around. The thing is we want people who are dedicated to serving Kenyans.”

Kuria was replaced by Rebecca Miano.
