DP Rigathi Attacks Uhuru in Maiden Speech

Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has reminded his boss, President William Ruto that the task ahead is difficult.

In his maiden speech at the Kasarani Stadium, the former Mathira MP said that the journey ahead will not be rosy as they are inheriting a dilapidated economy.

“The truth of the matter is that we have inherited a dilapidated economy which almost facing shut down. we have a huge task to liberate this country and bring it back to where Kibaki left it,” he said.

“We have talked to the treasury, and the coffers are empty. We will have to start from scratch.”

“Our new president and his team have a heavy task ahead,” he said, as he urged Kenyans to pray for the incoming administration.

“It was not possible for us to win this election it was through the hand of God that today an ordinary child has been sworn in as the president of Kenya,” he added.

Rigathi also accused the administration of former president Uhuru Kenyatta with inciting intimidation against Kenya Kwanza-affiliated leaders.

However, he gave Kenyans assurances that Ruto’s administration would defend the law without resorting to coercion or threats.

“I want to tell the people of Kenya that today is a great day. Kenya is now a democratic country. It became a crime to be a friend of William Ruto. You are finally free,” added the former legislator.

The second in command promised to carry out his duties as the second in command and aid President Ruto in keeping the promises he made to the Kenyan people during the election.

“I want to assure you of my commitment from the bottom of my heart to be available to assist you to manage the affairs of our great nation,” he stated.

However, he pleaded with Kenyans not to draw comparisons to Ruto’s first term in Uhuru’s administration.

Rigathi was assigned by Ruto, in accordance with the pre-election agreement, to lead a committee in developing measures that would be employed to revive the economy.

“I know I am getting in shoes that are almost impossible to fill. The performance of Ruto in his first term when he was allowed to serve the people of Kenya was on another level,” he elucidated.
