Jubilee Party Headquarters Building Up For Auction

Jubilee Party headquarters building along Thika Road in Pangani is currently up for auction.

The building will be auctioned on September 11 in Westlands, an advertisement published by auctioneers on Monday indicated.

The auction was put up by Garam Investments Auctioneers.

“All that parcel of land known as LR no 209/1530 Emani Business Centre along Thika Road, Pangani area registered under Farmer Industry Limited, with a plinth area of 34, 000 square feet,” the advert read.

Before being authorized to place a bid, bidders must present a deposit of Sh5 million in cash or a banker’s check.

The building served as Jubilee party’s nerve center for the 2013 and 2017 elections. It also houses key administrative offices.

However, the party headquarters saw minimal action in the 2022 elections as the majority of Jubilee party members switched to the United Democratic Alliance party in response to the onslaught of President-elect William Ruto’s party.

In 2018, Caleb Kositany, the deputy secretary of the Jubilee party at the time, claimed the party spent roughly Sh90 million a year on rent for its Pangani offices.

Last year, Auditor General Nancy Gathungu questioned the use of Sh87.47 million by the party on rent.

In order to support the payments, the party neglected to register the lease agreement for the land with the Ministry of Lands and Physical Planning.

According to the Registered Land Act, leases that last longer than two years must be registered.

“In the circumstances, the regularity of the lease agreements and the resultant payment could not be confirmed,” Gathungu said in her 2019-20 audit report on the financial operations of the ruling party.
