Jubilee Was Conned – MP Keynan Explains Plan to Exit Azimio

The Jubilee party has been steadfast in its efforts to formally leave the Azimio One Kenya coalition and join the ruling Kenya Kwanza party, Eldas MP Adan Keynan has said.

Keynan on Tuesday said that the coalition’s business has been conducted without the party’s participation, including discussions about important issues like choosing the coalition’s leadership.

The lawmaker asserted that the former ruling party has been engaging in a lengthy con game and has already notified the Registrar of Political Parties of its intention to exit the coalition party.

“We were not party to the arrangement that led to the formation of that coalition, it was done by the leaders then. But I think we were duped…we were actually conned as Jubilee the same way Mudavadi and Wetangula were conned, history repeats itself,” he told Citizen TV.

“All out positions were taken by your party (ODM). Jubilee is the second-largest party in the opposition. We ought to have either the minority leader, the minority whip, or the deputy minority leader. Our position in PSC was taken even in the committee of formation.

“In this broad daylight, who will subscribe to political conmanship, we will not.”

Last month, Keynan who serves as the party’s interim vice chairperson, said the party had every intention to leave the Raila Odinga-led coalition party.

He claimed that the party does not share the opposition’s ideologies and was unwilling to participate in the anti-government protests.

“Jubilee has refused and will continue to refuse to be party to maandamano that are tailor-made for the destruction of the property and lives of Kenyans,” he said.
