Kalonzo Paid Sh3 Billion To Rejoin Raila’s Azimio – Moses Kuria Alleges

Moses Kuria, the Gatundu South MP, now says that Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka was paid Sh3 billion as a “transfer fee” to return to the Azimio la Umoja-One Kenya Alliance coalition party.

Kuria said Kalonzo got the second-largest share anyone has ever received in the country to promise to tone down.

Taking to Facebook, the firebrand MP claimed the coalition party’s presidential flagbearer Raila Odinga had in 2017 received a whopping Sh10 billion to get him to call off protests that rocked the country on a weekly basis.

“Transfer fee….Ksh 3 Billion. Its only second to the Ksh10 Billion that Jakom got to cool down the country after 2017. Well done SKM. Hata wewe sio mtoto wa paka #TheLondonTransaction,” wrote the Kiambu governor aspirant.

This comes days after Wiper party officials voted to have their leader go back to Azimio.

Wiper-Kenya party organizing secretary Robert Mbui said there was still a chance for dialogue with Azimio after a leadership gathering in Machakos County that drew over 500 aspirants.

Mbui stated that Wiper could be beneficial in any position in the Azimio government.

“We want to be part of the new Kenya going forward but we need structured discussions as what is being offered are only in the media. We want Azimio to know that the issue is about Wiper as a party, and not as people have made it to be,” he said.

Kalonzo has been under pressure to make a decision on his position, with several opinion makers from Ukambani claiming that his inaction was sending contradictory messages to the public.

Kalonzo decamped from the Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Alliance on Monday last week citing betrayal by Raila.

Raila had just named Narc Kenya’s Martha Karua as his running mate, a position the former vice president believed should have been his. As a result, Kalonzo said he would be taking a stab at the presidency with Andrew Sunkuli as his deputy.

Kalonzo who has allegedly been on a personal trip to London, on Monday submitted voter signatures to the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC), an indication that he (Kalonzo) might not be returning to Azimio.

The signatures were submitted by his running mate Andrew Sunkuli who on Tuesday told Citizen TV that he would respect whatever decision his boss made.

“They had a political disagreement over what many assumed was the running mate position but first of all these people are friends. They have a political issue that probably needs to be ironed out but even before he (Kalonzo) left for abroad he warned me and other Wiper leaders against bad mouthing Raila,” he said.

“If he (Kalonzo) decides to choose the country and work with Odinga, I will do the same to support his decision but that is not where we are at the moment. Right now we are in the race.”

Should the former vice president choose to go back to Azimio, he will serve as the Prime Cabinet Secretary, should the Raila-Karua ticket clinch the presidency after the August 9 polls.
