Majority of Kenyans Believe Ruto Won Elections – Tifa Poll

According to a recent TIFA poll, a majority of Kenyans think President William Ruto won the presidential election in August 2022.

The poll shows that just a small percentage of people who say they cast ballots for one of the two top candidates for president in 2022 think Ruto was the winner.

“William Ruto in fact, received the most votes compared to Raila (48% vs. 37%),” the poll shows.

Tifa points out that those who voted for President Ruto and Odinga are sharply divided on this subject, with equal numbers expressing the opinion that he did or did not achieve this (75 percent vs. 71 percent).

Tifa on Thursday said that the fact that almost the same percentage of those who claim to have voted for Odinga are unsure that he won shows that Azimio’s accusations that his election was “stolen” have not been completely persuasive even among his followers.

The poll’s margin of error was 2.12%.

Nine regions—Central Rift, Coast, Lower Eastern, Mt. Kenya, Nairobi, Northern, Nyanza, South Rift, and Western—were involved in the interviews.

The interviews were conducted in (mainly) Swahili and English.

Retired President Uhuru Kenyatta’s Jubilee party came third with 5 per cent followed by Kalonzo Musyoka’s Wiper party which stands at 2 per cent.

The ANC party led by Lamu Governor Issa Timamy came in at number five at one per cent.
