Moses Kuria Walks For the First Time Since September 2021

Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria has walked for the first time in 137 days.

The Chama cha Kazi (CCM) party leader suffered third degree burns on his feet back in September 2021.

Since then, the vocal legislator has been rendered immobile until Friday when he walked for the first time.

Kuria took a walk in Dubai accompanied by friends, family and his doctors.

“Thank you very much American Hospital and to Science. I am very proud to be part of this pioneering cutting edge technology and it is my prayer that this will work for many other patients who have given up on other forms of treatment,” the legislator said.

His doctor said they at American Hospital were impressed by Kuria’s progress who was in bad condition when he was first admitted at the facility.

“Today we are walking with Moses on his feet after 137 days. He is a patient who had the courage to go through stem cell surgery. It has given him life after a devastating incident,” she said.

Kuria has so far undergone 10 surgeries to fix the third-degree burns.

The legislator had considered amputation but later settled for the stem cell surgery.

“It was a difficult decision. There were no cases to compare with either in UAE or in Kenya. After consulting with my family, I finally took a leap of faith and agreed to the surgery,” he said in January.

“Thanks to God Almighty and my wonderful team at the American Hospital, I can now walk again.”

Kuria who is yet to declare his political stand, has received numerous visitors at the Dubai-based health facility including deputy President William Ruto and Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi.

He will hold a thanksgiving ceremony on Saturday, February 19 at the Thika Stadium.
