Mudavadi Castigates Uhuru for Rallying Kenyans to Support Raila

Amani National Congress (ANC) Musalia Mudavadi on Thursday appeared to hit out at President Uhuru Kenyatta over his continued attacks on his deputy, William Ruto.

Uhuru on Wednesday told the people of Nakuru that they should avoid acting in haste when choosing a leader in 2022. In what was presumed to be an endorsement of ODM party leader Raila Odinga, the head of state said age should not be a factor when settling for a leader.

“People are elected on their intellectual ability, not physical strength. Leadership is the brain, it’s not a football match,” said the president.

He continued: “Leadership is not a sprint, it is a marathon. You will be busy running fast and by the time you are done, you run out of breath but mzee who has been walking slowly by slowly comes and passes you and wins the race. Go slowly.”

But according to Mudavadi, the president should not impose a candidate on to the people of Kenya, adding that elderly people should exit politics.

“If people are worried that the young people are running fast, then they should realize that young people are tired of us going too slowly,” said the ANC leader.

He added, “Even me, I am under pressure…the young people in ANC are saying finish quickly and exit.”

Mudavadi also called for free and fair elections as the polls draw closer.

Mudavadi is a part of the One Kenya Alliance (OKA) alongside Kalonzo Musyoka (Wiper), Moses Wetangula (Ford-Kenya) and Gideon Moi of Kanu.

It has been said that there is infighting within the camp over links to DP Ruto and Raila.

Mudavadi has recently been said to be meting in secret with DP Ruto but he has insisted that he will not step down from running for the country’s top seat in favour of anyone else.
