Elgeyo Marakwet senator Kipchumba Murkomen is feuding on Twitter with flamboyant city lawyer, Donald Kipkorir.
Kipkorir put the senator on blast for disrespecting him yet he raised funds for him back in 2012 when he first vied for the elective post.
“In 2012, when few people knew him, Kipchumba Murkomen asked me to preside Campaign Fundraiser for him which I did & raised 4m. Once elected & risen to public prominence, he has shown me disrespect. With HEAVENS as witnesses, I withdraw my blessings & shake the dust off my feet,” tweeted the lawyer on December 27.
Murkomen, a close ally of deputy President William Ruto, did not respond to the allegations until Tuesday when he accused the advocate of lying to the public.
Kipkorir had claimed that the legislator invited him to preside over a fundraiser at Panafric Hotel where Sh4 million was raised.
“Kipchumba Murkomen, if you forgot you invited me to preside over your fundraising at Panafric Hotel in 2012 and raised 4m then I won’t blame you,” tweeted Kipkorir.
But according to Murkomen, the fundraiser was held at Laico Regency Hotel where he raised Sh1.3 million in cash and Sh600,000 in pledges, most of which he alleged were not honoured.
“Donald, in 2013 you wrote a newspaper article stating that you gave me Kshs 4M. You are being dishonest bro. I have ignored this matter for far too long.The facts are as follows. I held my campaign harambee at Laico in 2012. I raised a total of 1.3M and pledges of 600K (most not honoured),” responded Murkomen.
The lawmaker alleged that the lawyer did not attend the event but wrote him a Sh50,000 cheque.
“Now, is this a Licence for you to keep insulting me or to foolishly write the things you wrote about Itumbi’s pain?” posed the senator.
“Calling you out for your wayward behaviour is a respectful performance of the leadership duties bestowed on me by the People.Respect is earned and it’s two way traffic.”
