Police Commence Investigations into Alleged Abduction of Dennis Itumbi

Police have commenced investigations into the alleged abduction of blogger Dennis Itumbi.

Itumbi, Deputy President William Ruto’s digital strategist, was allegedly abducted by men who identified themselves as police officers.

The incident happened on Thursday in Thindigua, Kiambu county.

In a statement National Police spokesperson Bruno Shioso said the matter was reported at Thindigua Police Post vide OB Number 10/23/12/2021 at around 3.40 pm.

Shioso while urging members of the public to be patient as investigations are being carried out, also asked that they desist from speculation.

He also asked those that might have information on the said incident to report to any police station or through police hotlines 999, 112 and 080 722 203.

Itumbi is said to have been kidnapped by officers as he was leaving a barbershop.

He was traced six hours later after a taxi driver spotted him in Lucky Summer, Kasarani area. The taxi driver said Itumbi believed he was in Eldoret.

His abductors allegedly changed cars and made phone calls indicating that they were headed to Eldoret.

At the time he was found, Itumbi was naked and had fractured his legs, left hand and left eye.

He is undergoing treatment at the Nairobi West Hospital.
