Roots Party Summons Justina Wamae Over “Reckless” Remarks

Roots party has summoned its deputy presidential candidate Justina Wamae.

The Prof George Wajackoyah-led party called in Wamae for disciplinary action due to comments she made regarding the recently held general elections.

Wamae is accused of violating party rules by making remarks that harm the party’s reputation.

“We have been instructed by the party leader Prof. George Wajackoyah as the party leader, your current utterance both in mainstream and social media for a disciplinary hearing,” read a letter signed by the party’s legal director Washika Wachira.

Wachira claimed that Wamae’s remarks have continuously and maliciously been misrepresented as the party’s position.

“The said media remarks made by yourself, which are well within your knowledge, are against the spirit and stand of our party,” added Wachira.

Wamae was also criticized for collaborating with Roots’ rivals in violation of party rules.

Last week, Wamae congratulated deputy president William Ruto for winning the presidential election.

She noted that the polls had been transparent as she chided her party for being disorganized.

She told a local daily that their agent mobilization exercise was poor.

“When I see parties like Roots Party, who as a member I can confidently say we were disorganized in regards to agent mobilization, stating that votes were stolen is simply preposterous,” she is quoted by the Star.

The legal director of the party stated that the party has been subjected to public mockery and disdain as a result of Wamae’s utterances.

Prior to the elections, Wamae exposed her party leader as a Raila Odinga supporter.

“Its true the allegations that my principal and party leader is supporting Azimio. But we have not discussed that as a Party, we have not agreed and neither have I been consulted,” she said.

Wamae, then declared that she would back Ruto if it were necessary for them to support any of their rivals.

Wamae noted that Wajackoyah had once again given the impression that the party is a project in the viral video in which he appeared to support Raila.

“If it comes to push and shove, then I will support the contrary (Ruto). That is my stand as Justina. But the party has not agreed, neither has it discussed this direction.”

But Wajackoyah told the Standard that his utterances were taken out of context.
