President Ruto noted that his administration wants a strong opposition to hold it accountable.

“I want an opposition that will hold the government accountable. That’s why I am against the Handshake,” he said.

He added: “I am running a government that is accountable to Kenyans; my Cabinet secretaries are accountable. I want an Opposition that will hold the government accountable. That’s why I am against the Handshake.”

The Head of State declared that the only way to keep the executive accountable is through a system of government and opposition.
