President William Ruto has reshuffled seven Principal Secretaries following Josephine Mburu’s dismissal as Public Health PS.

The head of state named Correctional Services PS Mary Muthoni as the new PS responsible for the Public Health docket yielding her portfolio to Ether Ngero who ceded the Performance Management docket in the Prime Cabinet Secretary’s Office.

Meanwhile, Medical Services PS Peter Tum has been moved to the Sports ministry.

Livestock PS Harry Kimtai takes over from Tum as Jonathan Mueke moves to the Livestock ministry.

Forestry PS Ephantus Kimani swapped places with Irrigation’s Gitonga Mugambi.

The President fired Mburu on Monday over graft allegations on the donor-funded National Malaria Programme.

Head of the Public Service Felix Koskei said Monday that the decision was occasioned by complaints of alleged impropriety within the Kenya Medical Supplies Authority (KEMSA) in its management and administration of various medical programmes.

“The complaints follow the regular verification of expenditure by the Global Fund with regard to the National Malaria Programme that targets millions of low income Kenyan households within our nation’s malaria endemic regions,” Koskei said.

The Head of Public Service emphasized that President Ruto’s administration is dedicated to bringing about a new era in the country’s healthcare administration by making sure that no Kenyan would be denied the dignity of access to affordable medical care because of corruption.

He insisted that the administration would take all necessary steps to ensure accountability in the healthcare system.

“Therefore, in keeping with the Administration’s Health policy of “leaving no one behind”, the Administration will spare no effort in rebuilding the KEMSA supply chain management system so as to secure efficiency and accountability in the provision of medical supplies to all health facilities across our nation,” he said.
