War of Words as DP Ruto Responds to President Uhuru Over Political Rallies Comments

Uhuru Kenyatta’s condemnation of nonstop politicking atop vehicles, has prompted Deputy President William Ruto to retaliate.

Uhuru had criticized his deputy, claiming that work is done in offices, not on top of automobiles during political rallies.

But, speaking in Kakamega on Tuesday, Ruto emphasized that theories should be put into practice as well.

“You make theories in offices and you implement the plan sometimes on top of cars,” he said to the amusement of the crowd.

“I have been in government long enough to understand that policies and theoretical works are done in offices but implemented on the ground that sometimes entails doing so from the car tops.”

In the run-up to the August 9 elections, Ruto challenged Uhuru to a fierce fight.

He said that the Jubilee administration would not have come to fruition if it had not been for him.

He claims he is well prepared to face the President, who indicated on Monday that he will enter politics now that his manifesto has been delivered.

“They are obsessed with managing their succession but I want to tell them that we are ready for that contest my friends, bring it on. Tuko tayari kabisa,” Ruto said.

He defended his performance in government, claiming that he was involved in every successful project during the Jubilee administration.

“Jubilee government was a joint project between me and my friend President Uhuru Kenyatta,” said the second in command.

“You cannot deny me as deputy president the credit for many projects that we have achieved together. It is not going to happen my friends. Anybody imagining that they can deny me credit is wasting their time.”

On Monday, President Kenyatta accused some politicians of constantly criticizing his administration’s performance.

Kenya had achieved progress in delivering important government pledges, including high-quality health-care services to its residents, said the Head of State.

“Kazi tunafanya. Kazi haifanywi juu ya magari, inafanywa ofisini,” said Uhuru.
