Murang’a Woman Rep Sabina Chege No Longer Afraid of Being Associated with Raila

Murang’a Woman Rep Sabina Chege is no longer afraid of being associated with ODM leader Raila Odinga.

Chege who is eyeing the area gubernatorial seat said the former prime minister is a considerate individual.

“I am no longer afraid of being associated with Raila, he is a leader like any other. Initially, we were told that Raila isn’t human. We were all afraid of him but we have had access to him. He is polite, a very good family man and very considerate. It is good to give him a chance,” she said.

Her sentiments were echoed by Jubilee vice chairman David Murathe who told the electorate that they peddled lies about Raila in the Mt Kenya region.

Speaking on Friday during the Azimio la Umoja convention, Murathe said it was time they undid those lies.

“We, the people you are seeing here, we went to Central with lots of lies and propaganda. We will go back there and unlock the propaganda,” he said.

In November, Nyandarua Governor Francis Kimemia told the people of Nyeri that “a lot of lies” were told about the AU envoy in 2007 when former President Mwai Kibaki was seeking re-election.

“When I was in Kibaki’s camp and Raila Odinga was our opponent, we said lies about him. We ruined his reputation, a lot. I can tell you today that we were telling lies. It was all politics,” said the county boss.

“It’s now time we go to the grassroots and tell people the truth about this man Raila. We’ll tell them: ‘we said this or that about him so that we could galvanise the voters to vote for Kibaki’. Let’s tell people the truth, that Raila is the right candidate for president; he has adequate experience to run government.”

Raila will be taking a stab at the country’s top seat for the fifth time in next year’s polls.
