Marriage and Family

Susan acquired ten acres of land from her affluent father, who considered her his favorite child. This was followed by dramatic occurrences, with several of her father’s wives alleging that she was attempting to defraud them of the fortune he had left behind.

Susan Kihika is married to Sam Mburu and the couple has two daughters, Ashley and Tiffany.

Education

Susan started her schooling at Nyahururu’s Busara Forest View Academy. She then continued her secondary school at Bishop Gatimu Ngandu Girls High School in Nyeri County.

She was accepted to the University of North Texas and earned a bachelor’s degree in political science. She then went on to Southern Methodist Law School in Dallas, Texas, where she earned her Juris Doctorate.

Career

Susan went into public service after graduating from university. She later resigned her job and founded The Kihika Law Firm in Dallas. Susan decided to return to Kenya after 20 years of practicing law in the United States.

Susan’s first political move was to run for the Bahati Constituency seat, which she lost. She then became the first speaker of the Nakuru County Assembly, presiding over the house sessions.

She is the immediate former senator for Nakuru County. She served as the majority whip in the senate until May 2020 when she was ousted.

Shortly after, she was replaced by Murang’a senator Irungu Kang’ata who was also removed after joining then Deputy President William Ruto’s camp.

Kang’ata was replaced with Kanu’s Samuel Poghisio.

Susan is now the Governor for Nakuru County. She won the seat on a United Democratic Alliance (UDA) ticket.
