They Were Scared of President Uhuru – Mudavadi On Why OKA Principals Left NDC

Amani National Congress (ANC) leader Musalia Mudavadi is spilling the beans on why his former OKA co-principals walked out from his NDC on Sunday.

Speaking in Bungoma where he, Ford Kenya’s Moses Wetangula and deputy President William Ruto held a joint campaign, the former deputy prime minister said Kalonzo Musyoka, Gideon Moi and Cyrus Jirongo left because they were scared of President Uhuru Kenyatta.

According to Mudavadi, the three are seeking the head of state’s approval hence were afraid to be seen with his deputy who has since been sidelined in government.

“Waliposkia DP anakuja pale Bomas, jamaa walitoroka mbio wakisema staki kupatikana hapa nikipigwa picha itakua bad for optics. No, It is not bad for optics, it is not bad being taken a photograph with another Kenyan whether it is the DP or anyone else,“ Mudavadi said.

“They were not running away because of bad optics; they were running away because of Uhuru Kenyatta. Waliogopa Uhuru Kenyatta atawauliza mlikua mnafanya nini kule na mnajua mnataka hivi.”

Without mentioning names, Mudavadi accused the president of imposing leaders on Kenyans.

“I will spare his name a very senior man in this government once told me; We cannot leave the government to someone who is not pedigree. If we have pedigree in the country then who are the mongrels,” he said.

“Hatuwezi kuachiwa mamlaka Kenya hii; tunaweza kuachia tu ngombe ya grade lakini hatuwezi kuachia ngo’mbe ya kienyeji…sisi tumewekwa kwa ng’ombe ya kienyeji,” he told a cheering crowd.

A confident Mudavadi also told off the so called deep state and those against his association with the DP.

The ANC leader said he was confident the “Kenya Kwanza” alliance would emerge victorious in the upcoming polls.

He urged Kenyans to unite against divisive politics and government.

“We are making a coalition for all Kenyans. It must be truly a rainbow coalition that captures the breadth and width of the Kenyan nation. We want it to start for freedom, we want to stand for democracy, justice and economy ndio mueke pesa mfukoni,” Mudavadi said.

It is not clear what role Mudavadi will play should the DP form the next government as speculations indicate that the latter is most likely to pick a running mate from the Mt Kenya region.
