UDA Will Rule for 100 Years – DP Gachagua

The United Democratic Alliance (UDA) will become the country’s biggest political party and will rule for the next 100 years, Deputy president Rigathi Gachagua has said.

Speaking to UDA grassroots coordinators in Nairobi, Gachagua declared that the party intends to bring in new members from the areas that Azimio leader Raila Odinga considers to be his strongholds.

“We have moved across the country and you have seen that our party is now in every corner of the country. Our plans are bigger and we will expand the party to reach Nyanza region and other areas… this is a massive party that will rule for 100 years,” he said.

Additionally, the former Mathira MP criticized Raila and rejected the possibility of a handshake between the opposition leader and President William Ruto.

The DP remained adamant that the government will allow the opposition to fulfill its role in governance.

“When we talk about shares, we mean governance. President William Ruto will not appoint those who did not support his candidature. He will only appoint those who supported him because they have a clear understanding of the vision he has,” he said.

“They understand the bottom-up economic model better than those who did not support him.”

The DP also officially welcomed former Migori Governor Okoth Obado to the ruling party.

According to party secretary-general Cleopas Malala, UDA is looking to register up to 15 million new members before the next General Election.

“We will start with a recruitment exercise in Siaya before moving to other regions in the country. We will have a strong party where everyone belongs and by the next general election, we will have over 15 million members,” said Malala.

The deputy president at the same asked the party coordinators to ensure the planned grassroots elections are democratic.

“We want to have the elected party officials right from the ward to the national level and these officials will be part of the government reception team when the president comes to your county,” said the DP.
