Governor Waiguru Alleges Police Intimidation Ahead of DP Ruto’s Visit

Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru has alleged police intimidation ahead of deputy President William Ruto’s visit.

In a tweet, the governor claimed the area DCIO was threatening her aides with arrest on Sunday morning.

“The DCIO Kianyaga is now summoning my team to interrogate and threatening to arrest them before DP @WilliamsRuto visit to Kirinyaga. Please stop intimidating my team using security forces,” said Waiguru.

Still in Kirinyaga, Waiguru and area Woman Rep Wangui Ngirici clashed outside the church where the DP is expected to join worshippers.

The duo are eyeing the governor’s seat on a United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party hence the tension.

Ngirici has accused the UDA party of sidelining her while supporting her rival who joined the party in October.

Tensions were also high in the area after individuals believed to be Ngirici’s supporters set ablaze Waiguru’s campaign jackets.
