Roots party leader George Wajackoyah has formally assumed the role of opposition leader.
The former presidential contender on Friday while speaking in Western Kenya said that he is now the new “Joshua” who will bring the nation to Canaan.
“Mimi sasa ndio Joshua nataka kuwapeleka Canaan. Na tutafika huko Canaan maanake Musa amechoka. Na tutaendelea kumheshimu Musa. I am the official opposition leader in this country!” he stated.
Loosely translates to: “I’m now Joshua. I want to take you to Canaan. And we will get to Canaan now that Moses is tired. And we will continue to honour Moses.”

Wajackoyah stated that although President William Ruto is a good friend, if necessary, he will criticize and oversight his administration.
“It doesn’t mean that when you’re an opposition leader you become an enemy of the government,” he said.
The former presidential contender who finished in third place also told the electorate that he will be Kenya’s next president.
He noted that the sale of illicit brew had helped educate a large number of people and that Uganda’s President Yoweri Museveni had made the drink legal.
