We Will Solve Our Problems – Uhuru Says After Clash at Jubilee Party HQs

Retired President Uhuru Kenyatta says the Jubilee Party will solve its issues internally.

Speaking on Wednesday, the former head of state said party members will decide the fate of the former ruling party.

“We have our mechanisms as a political party with which to solve our problems and we shall solve and we shall have our meetings and the party’s membership will decide the party’s future,” he said.

He also criticized the police for teargassing Kenyans who had gathered at the party headquarters in Kileleshwa.

“We don’t need to be governed or be pushed by police. We will peacefully make our decisions because we are peaceful people who wish to live in a peaceful country,” he added.

The former head of state urged Kenyans to co-exist peacefully and to avoid fighting amongst themselves.

“Let us all live in peace, we should not be allowed to bring hatred among ourselves, let us all live in peace and all shall be well,” he said.

Uhuru made an impromptu visit after two groups linked to Jeremiah Kioni and Kanini Kega clashed.

This was after the Political Parties Tribunal declined to quash NEC’s resolution that installed the EALA MP as secretary general.

In its judgment delivered on April 16, the tribunal said that the notice for the National Executive Committee meeting issued on February 2 and the subsequent NEC meeting on February 10 which imposed Kega was done in accordance with the party Constitution.
