East African Legislative Assembly (EALA) nominee Winnie Odinga has accused the United States of meddling in the August 9 general elections.
In an interview with Citizen TV on Tuesday, Winnie claimed that Kenya had turned into a “play station” for Americans, likening it to a virtual reality game.
“Have you ever worn virtual reality glasses? That is what Kenya is to them. You put it on and you play. Kenya is like a PlayStation to them,” she told Waihiga Mwaura.
The lastborn daughter of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party leader Raila Odinga said she could testify to the same in a court of law.

“I’ll even show you how,” she said.
She said that Kenya Kwanza Alliance’s candidate, President William Ruto, winning the election was devastating.
“All that work, all those hours, all those people that relied on us so that this didn’t happen… it’s devastating,” she said.
“It’s difficult to let them down because, for a lot of them, Raila Odinga was hope.”

She stated that the only person who worked as hard as she did during the campaign period, was her father.
This she said as she dispelled claims that she kept her father away from other politicians.
Winnie emphasized the Western influence and stated that if elected to the EALA, she would put together a coalition of the willing to oppose it.
She claimed that throughout time, the Western influenced how the continent was governed and how its resources were utilised, eventually exhausting them.

On her EALA nomination, Winnie denied the family name got her on the final list of 12.
The Odinga name, she said, is both an advantage and disadvantage. She also stated that she had lobbied both Kenya Kwanza and Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Alliance coalition party MPs ahead of the Thursday ballot.
Winnie said she has received positive feedback from both camps but more so from the majority party.
