Gachagua Pledges To Get Ruto 100% Of Mt Kenya Votes In 2027

Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua says he will unite the Mt Kenya region before the 2027 general elections.

Speaking on Sunday, Gachagua pledged to deliver the 13% which he lost in the last polls.

The second-in-command said he delivered 87% of the Mt Kenya vote.

“I am looking for the 13% which I lost to give William Ruto 100% of votes in the 2027 General Elections,” he said.

He asserted that Dr Ruto’s win in the 2027 polls will be dependent on a united vote-rich Mt Kenya region.

The former Mathira MP urged Mt Kenya voters to disregard allegations of discord within the ruling coalition.

“Now, why are people making out a problem when I say this? He (Ruto) is looking for votes from people of Azimio affiliation who were forced into joining the political party through harassment. I want to bring everybody on board behind President William Ruto,” he said.

He asserted that Kenya Kwanza’s opponents were uneasy with the administration and had resorted to division allegations.

“I must defend my boss and those who voted for us. Truth be told, as the Bible urges us to do, the naysayers should be content with the reality that those who benefit first are those who voted for the government. Otherwise, we couldn’t be holding these offices,” he said.

The former Mathira MP added that while he has no issues with the president meeting with opposition leaders, they should not expect much from it.

He declared that he will fight for the Rift Valley and Central Kenya to have the lion’s share of the national cake.

“Some people accuse me of being a hardliner or blocking them from accessing President Ruto, but where were they before the 2022 elections?” he wondered.

“Let the president woo the people who did not vote for us, and I will receive those who are defecting to Kenya Kwanza ahead of the 2027 elections. When I called for unity in Mt Kenya, it is an unsettling idea to many, especially when I hinted that I want to meet former President Uhuru Kenyatta to unite Mt Kenya.”
